The Emerald Engineers

Our Mission

At Emerald Engineers, we don't just build robots — we build bridges between generations, ideas, and communities. As a rookie FTC team, our mission is rooted in gratitude, growth, and giving back. We are proud to be part of the FIRST ecosystem, and we're committed to strengthening it throughout our community through mentorship, outreach, and innovation.

From FLL to FTC: A Legacy of Learning

Our story began in the FIRST LEGO League, where we spent five years learning how to code, engineer lego robots, and collaborate with fellow teammates. In our time in FLL, we discovered that we enjoyed developing our knowledge, and that the fun of it was found in eachother. So over our 8th a group of 8 us decided to come together and form a team. Now, as we step into the world of FIRST Tech Challenge, we carry that legacy forward. We know what it's like to be the team just starting out, full of questions and excitement. That's why we've made it our mission to support others who are beginning their own journeys.

FTC to FLL

Mentorship Matters

One of our proudest achievements is mentoring a rookie FLL team. We've walked in their shoes, and now we walk beside them—sharing strategies, offering guidance, and cheering them on every step of the way. Mentorship isn't just a side project for us; it's a core part of who we are. We believe that knowledge should be passed down, not hoarded. Every lesson we've learned is a tool we're eager to share.

FIRST Community TEST

Growing the FIRST Community

We see ourselves as stewards of the FIRST values: Gracious Professionalism, Coopertition, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Our goal is to contribute meaningfully to the community that shaped us. Whether it's through volunteering, hosting workshops, or collaborating with other teams, we aim to be a resource and a role model. We're also passionate about accessibility. Robotics should be for everyone, regardless of background or budget. That's why we're exploring creative ways to support teams financially, share open-source designs, and promote inclusive practices.

Innovation with Purpose

As engineers, we love solving problems. But we don't innovate for the sake of novelty—we innovate with purpose. Every mechanism we design, every strategy we test, and every outreach effort we launch is driven by a desire to make a positive impact. We want our robots to compete, but we also want them to inspire.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. As we grow in FTC, we plan to expand our mentorship network, deepen our community involvement, and push the boundaries of what a rookie team can achieve. We dream of hosting scrimmages, leading STEM events, and eventually mentoring other FTC teams. Our vision is bold, but our foundation is strong. We are Emerald Engineers. We build with heart, we lead with purpose, and we rise together.
